Job Summary
The Business Consultant’s primary responsibility is to perform consulting services for Microsoft Dynamics AX customers. The focus will be the Dynamics AX Sales Order (AR) and Purchase Order (AP) functions and related modules such as Inventory Management, Projects and Service. As part of our Professional Services team, you would be involved in a large number of projects spanning both the existing customer base as well as new business implementations.
Duties and responsibilities
· Full life-cycle project activities, from Analysis à Design à Implementation à Go-Live within the Financial areas of Dynamics AX
· Leverage understanding of ERP systems to drive functional improvements and identify areas for process development
· Test functionality developed by the implementation team against business requirements
· Support and drive change process and communication
· Coordinate and contribute to end-user training, including creation of user documentation and training materials
· Prepare functional specifications for customizations required during a Dynamics AX implementation
· Hands-on configuration of Dynamics AX financial modules
· Provide pre-go-live and post-go-live end-user support
Credentials and Experience
· College degree in a related discipline strongly desired (Business Management, Finance, Accounting)
· Professional certification and accreditation strongly recommended (CPIM, CSCP, CPM, CPSM, CSSGB, CSSBB) or equivalent work experience
· Microsoft Dynamics AX certification(s) in related discipline a plus
· Experience with other modules within Dynamics AX desired
· Minimum 5-years hands-on experience with full life-cycle implementations
· (4) or more years experience as a business consultant
· (3) or more years private industry experience recommended
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
· Knowledge of discrete manufacturing best practices, principles and procedures as related to mid-to-large scale business processes
· Demonstrable knowledge of applying the following AX functional areas to business processes:
· Item Master
· Bill of Materials
· Customers
· Sales Orders/Return Orders
· Picking Routes
· Shipments
· Vendors
· Purchase Orders
· Purchase Requisition
· Ability to understand, communicate, and interpret client business processes and requirements
· Ability to thrive in a collaborative atmosphere
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple demands
· Proven ability to write effective system and process documentation - including business and system requirements, process diagrams, and data flow charts
· Exceptional customer service skills
· Effective time management skills
· Fluent in English - both written and verbal - mandatory
· In-depth knowledge of ERP systems as they relate to effective and efficient business processes
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision
· Ability to handle and resolve conflict
Special requirements
· Willing to work overtime as needed and requested
· Travel requirements may vary depending on customer needs, 50-75% travel should be expected during certain phases of a project – ability to travel as-needed is a requirement of this position
· Must be able to work in the United States
